At Port Orchard Parrot Rescue & Sanctuary, we see birds of all personalities come through our doors—some shy, some bold, and others, like Twinkle, simply curious about the world around them. We’re excited to share that this lively Green Cheek Conure has been adopted and is settling into his new home!
Twinkle’s Journey to the Rescue
Twinkle arrived at the rescue on November 30, 2024, along with his companion, a peach-faced lovebird named Big Red, who is still looking for a home. From day one, Twinkle stood out as a bird who was highly interested in people. He would come right up to the side of his cage to check out anyone who walked by, watching intently and making it clear that he wanted to be part of the action.
Unlike some parrots who are immediately cuddly or eager for hands-on interaction, Twinkle is more of an observer first. He enjoys being near people and is social, but building trust takes time. With the right approach, we knew he would blossom in a patient, understanding home.
A Great Match: Twinkle Meets Tina G.
When Tina G. visited the rescue in search of a companion bird, Twinkle immediately caught her eye. His curiosity, engagement, and willingness to interact made an impression, and she knew he had the potential to thrive with her.
While Twinkle isn’t the type to hop right onto a hand or demand head scratches, he made it clear that he was interested in getting to know Tina. After spending time together, she decided to adopt him, excited to give him the space and encouragement to grow into their bond at his own pace.
A New Chapter Begins
Now settling into his new surroundings, Twinkle is adjusting to life with Tina. He’s exploring, getting used to his new routine, and beginning to form a connection with his new caregiver. With time, trust, and positive interactions, we’re confident Twinkle’s personality will continue to shine.
Big Red is Still Looking for a Home
While we celebrate Twinkle’s adoption, his companion Big Red, the peach-faced lovebird, is still waiting for someone to take him home.
