We want to extend our deepest thanks to Welding Instructor Bela Kovacs and the amazing crew at West Sound Tech in Bremerton for coming to the rescue of four very special residents here at Port Orchard Parrot Rescue & Sanctuary — our Macaws: Red, O.G., Lucy, and Maui.
These magnificent birds had been living with heavily rusted cage trays that had deteriorated over time and, in several places, rusted through completely. Thanks to the skill and generosity of Bela and his students, we now have brand-new custom-fabricated trays that are not only safer and sturdier, but will serve our Macaws well for years to come.
We’re also incredibly grateful to our volunteer, Wendy Balduf-Bradshaw, who coordinated everything with Bela and helped make this project a reality.
